Provisional Cancellation, Deferral, and Refund Policies during COVID-19 pandemic

The following policies have been amended in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic and are valid until further notice.

Learner Protection

A Learner Protection Scheme is included in the 25-week full-time time English course fee for Non-EU/EEA students. All English language schools are legally obliged to provide non-EU/EEA students with Learner Protection Insurance. This insurance ensures that those students’ fees and courses are guaranteed, in the eventuality that 25-week full-time English language programmes become unavailable due to a permanent school closure (educational establishment becoming insolvent or being otherwise wound up or dissolved). Temporary closure of DCAS campuses due to COVID-19 are excluded from the Insurance Policy.

Cancellation & Deferral Policy

For all approved cancellations during the COVID-19 pandemic, the standard €150 administration fee is being waived. Approved deferrals have no additional cost to restart on any date within the 12 months following approval date.

I.        DIRECT ENROLMENTS

If you booked your course directly with the school, below terms are applied:

a.     INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (1st course in Ireland):

i.        CANCELLATION PRIOR TO ARRIVAL IN IRELAND

Full refund or course deferral are approved on request.

ii.       CANCELLATION AFTER ARRIVAL, PRIOR TO STUDENT VISA DOCUMENTS ARE ISSUED

Full refund is approved on request, when student returns to the home country and present documental evidence of their return (copy of flight ticket and arrival stamp on the passport). Immigration will be informed that you are exited from DCAS.

iii.      CANCELLATION AFTER ARRIVAL, AFTER STUDENT VISA DOCUMENTS ARE ISSUED

If international students have completed less than 4 weeks face-to-face classes:

DCAS is facilitating their return to home if they wish, granting a credit note to be used in another future 6-month course with DCAS. The credit note will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, considering course fees and adding registration fee if applied. For students to avail of the cancellation in this circumstance, they must also present documental evidence of their return to home country (copy of flight ticket and arrival stamp on the passport). Credit note has a Euro amount to be used towards a new course and will be valid for 12 months from issue date. This credit note issued during the COVID-19 pandemic can be transferred to another person.

Refund Policy

The school assumes that all prospective students will have made a committed decision to study a given course before applying for admission. On the other hand, DCAS is taking into account the current COVID-19 pandemic and is offering a more flexible refund policy as follows:

I.      Refunds through cancellation requests follow the guidelines above on the Cancellation & Deferral Policy.

II.     In a case where a prospective student is refused a student visa, the school will refund all fees paid. However, in such an event, no refund will be made unless the school has received all original copies of the school letters of enrolment plus an original copy of refusal from the appropriate immigration authority or Irish embassy.

III.    In a case where a prospective student is refused entry into the country due to flight restrictions related to COVID-19, the school will refund all fees paid. However, in such an event, no refund will be made unless the school has received all original copies of the school letters of enrolment plus evidence of flight restriction related to COVID-19.

IV.    Where it is proved that a prospective student has submitted a forged document(s) with a view to registering as a student, fees will not be refunded by the school and relevant authorities will be notified.

V.     Please note that in cases of visa refusals for renewals/extensions in Ireland, the student must: provide a current full passport showing a lack of new stamp from INIS; flight tickets proving that the student will be leaving the country once their visa has expired; and return all official school documentation (Acceptance Letter).

VI.    No refund will be made when a student is asked by authorities to leave the country.

VII.   Medical insurance fees are non-refundable after a student arrival in Ireland (for international students on their 1st Study Visa) or after Study Visa documents are issued (for local students on their 2nd or 3rd study visas).

All refund requests must be made in writing through the Fee Refund Form available on the link below. It may take up to 60 days to process a refund, once a request is approved and the approval is communicated to the student.
